Boomerang Kaolin

Kula-Gold-Logo 50Kula Gold Limited hosts 93.3 million tonnes of Kaolinised Granite Resource at its 100% owned Boomerang Kaolin Project near Southern Cross in Western Australia.

The JORC Resource Estimate announced July 2022 has verified the resource values for the Boomerang Kaolin Deposit as follows:

ASX Announcement Highlights – July 2022:

  • 93.3 million tonnes of Kaolinised Granite with an indicated resource of 15.2mt and an inferred resource of 78.1mt.

  • Boomerang Kaolin named after the boomerang shaped magnetic structure opposite that initiated the discovery drillholes in July 2021.

  • Completed from discovery to JORC Resource in 12 months and capex spend of ~$1.2m.

  • Preliminary feasibility study work suggests that the Boomerang Kaolin Deposit supports the development of a shallow, open-pit, long life mine.

  • The logistics associated with the mining of raw product and the conversion and shipment of Metakaolin to market are exceptional, given its proximity to local infrastructure at Southern Cross in Western Australia.

  • Current test work results indicate that in addition to Metakaolin, the Boomerang Kaolin could be used in paint, rubber, and pesticide production.

  • Commercialisation studies on the Boomerang Kaolin Project have identified Metakaolin production as an opportunity for the emerging Green Construction Industry – with a significant opportunity to reduce carbon emissions through using Metakaolin as a cement substitute in addition to improved performance.

  • Further uses are being investigated in ongoing mineralogical/metallurgical test work by Sedgman.

Kaolin is used for a wide variety of products including: paper, china, porcelain and tableware, paint, rubber, cable insulation, specialty films and fertilisers, with new uses being discovered using this industrial clay.

As explained in our July 2022 Resource Presentation, using Metakaolin as a 15% substitute for cement in making concrete offers significant CO2 emission savings and actively promotes green construction.

Kula-Gold-Logo 50Boomerang Kaolin was discovered in July 2021 and drilled out in 2021-22. Discovery to JORC Resource was completed in 12 months.

It lies in a favourable location, being ~25km from the Kalgoorlie water pipeline and Highway 94 Perth to Kalgoorlie, and 43km to the Southern Cross rail yard.

Preliminary feasibility study work suggests that the Boomerang Kaolin Deposit supports the development of a shallow, open-pit, long life mine. Metakaolin development can be facilitated with industry-standard processing technology which is relatively low-tech but highly value accretive.

The logistics associated with the mining of raw product and the conversion and shipment of Metakaolin to market are exceptional, as indicated below.

A sealed public road runs along the boundary of the tenement within 4km of the deposit. The project is located within 5km of the Marvel Loch townsite and 43km of Southern Cross which has a national rail facility running west-east for efficient transportation of end product. Water and electricity infrastructure is within 5km of the project location.
